The grapes for this cooler-climate loving variety were sourced from the cooler slopes of the Crownthorpe district of Hawkes Bay, located on the banks of the Ngaruroro River.
The 2019 growing season experienced a cooler start during Spring flowering, helping to naturally moderate crop for higher wine quality later. The climate then led into a long dry summer, continuing right through to harvest, providing ideal conditions which allowed the grapes to be picked at optimal ripeness. Healthy fruit was harvested on 4th April 2019 at 20.3° Brix.
This immediately appealing wine was crafted in a fruit-forward style achieved through vinification in stainless steel tanks, along with a slow fermentation initiated with yeast specially selected to bring out the luscious intensity of this aromatic variety. The emerging wine was lightly fined, and progressed through to cold stabilisation, before bottling under screwcap on 27th June 2019
