Jameson IPA (Irish Pale Ale) – created for the craft beer lovers and the curious whiskey enjoyers.
The latest edition to the series is the Jameson Caskmates IPA matured blend, and it is excellent. Rather than meaning Indian Pale Ale, which most beer fans will know it as, IPA here means Irish Pale Ale. A nice twist on an old favourite. The casks were first sent from Jameson to the brewery.
For their Caskmates IPA edition, Jameson re-uses oak barrels that have previously been used to make IPA style beer to age some of their newly made Irish whiskey. IPA or India Pale Ale is a style of beer that uses more hoppes in the production process than normal, which results in a bitter but invigorating flavor.
Comprised of both single malt(s) and single grain(s) often from many different distilleries; if Scotch or Irish must be aged for at least three years in oak barrels; Irish may include single pot still whiskey in the blend.
Floral notes, herbal flavors, citrus, orchard fruits, wood and nutty notes. Hops and light citrus with sweet herbal notes and delicate spicy tones. The lingering fresh fruit and hops give way to grains of barley. Smooth.
