Through Jane’s determination, the talent of Chief Winemaker, James Macdonald and the dedication of General Manager Peter Macdonald; Hunter’s classically styled, elegant wines continue to accumulate awards and credibility around the globe. Hunter’s produce a comprehensive range of wines including bottle fermented sparkling wine MiruMiru (Maori for Bubbles), from their Sustainable Wine Growing New Zealand accredited winery and vineyards.
Stone fruits and flinty characters combine to give this wine a modern Chardonnay nose. The palate is tightly wound around a dense fruit core. In the mouth, the wine shows nutty characters and soft acid.
This wine is ready to drink but will also reward aging for the next 7 years.
Chardonnay grapes were sourced from the Rapaura, Renwick and Omaka sub regions of Marlborough.
We have been using the same vineyards for many years which gives the wine a certain level of consistency.
4 STARS – Winestate Magazine – December 2019
“Fresh, full-bodied and dry, with complexity from fermentation and maturation for 10 months in French oak puncheons. Citrusy, peachy, gently biscuity flavours, with very good vigour and a lingering finish. Well worth cellaring”
91 Points – James Suckling – October 2019
“This has a very lively and juicy feel with ripe pears and peaches as well as grilled- mango flavours. Fresh and neatly cut finish”
4 STARS – Michael Cooper Web Reviews, August 2019
“This wine traditionally placed its accent on vibrant fruit flavours, overlaid with very subtle wood – aging characters. The youthful 2018 vintage (4*), grown in the Rapaura, Renwick and Omaka districts, was fermented with indigenous yeasts and lees- ages for 10 months in French Oak casks. Bright, light lemon/green, it is full bodied, with fresh, citrusy, peachy, gently biscuity flavours, showing good complexity, and a lingering finish.’
