Brown Brothers Australian Tawny Port (17.5/20).
At 17.5% alc, this is a blend of Shiraz, Grenache and small quantities of Cabernet Sauvignon, Carignan, Mataro and other varieties with an average age of 5-6 y.o., though some material would be up to 15 y.o. Quite dark mahogany red with tawny hues.
The aromas and flavours are of ripe and dried fruits. Complex nutty notes with light rancio came through, especially on the long, drying finish. Clean, quality spirit without any coarseness, but could still be a little more integral with the wine.
A good combination of freshness with attractive touches from aging.
