VINEYARD DESCRIPTION
A blend of fruit from several Hawkes Bay vineyards, a region considered to be New Zealand’s home for the Bordeaux varietals Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon. Fruit is taken predominantly from the renowned Gimblett Gravels winegrowing district, namely Omahu Gravels, Ngakirkiri and Twyford Gravels. The free-draining gravelly soils and warm conditions of the Gimblett Gravels encourage low yields and devigourated vines.
WINEMAKER’S COMMENT
This wine promotes layers of berry and dark plum flavours combined with complex cedar and savoury characters. This wine is richly concentrated in style and is complemented by fine-grained tannins, ensuring the wine is approachable and capable of developing further complexity with medium-term aging.
SERVING SUGGESTION
Enjoy with savoury dishes, red meats and cheeses, or on its own.
