For years Umenoyado Brewery has set the standard for premium Japanese fruit liqueurs. Their Aragoshi (literally roughly pressed) Umeshu brings the fruit flavor to the forefront, with fully 21% of the volume made from Ume plum nectar, with plenty of pulp left over.
Brewed by Umenoyado, this umeshu is a premium variant of the ume plum saké. By using 15 different varieties of Japanese ume plums, Umenoyado Brewery has created an umeshu that is distinctively more aromatic, with deeper, richer and intense sweet flavours. Each bottle is aged 3 years to let all 15 ume plums infuse themselves completely in the saké before it is further extracted.
The Brewery
Founded in 1893, in recent years Umenoyado has become a trailblazer for new categories and styles, in particular fine sake based liqueurs. Their Aragoshi line features premium sake infused with high quality natural fruit, excellent on the rocks or in a myriad of cocktail applications.
Fifth generation owner and president Kayo Yoshidas philosophy is to make sake rooted in tradition but with an eye toward the future, and to making sake that can be enjoyed both locally in Japan and around the world.
