Koonunga Hill occupies a lower rung of the Penfolds quality ladder, but it’s not exactly ordinary.

Lightly jammy raspberry and blackberry fruit have instant attraction, and complexity comes from touches of mint, pepper and earthy background oak. Medium-bodied, deeply flavoured, lingering and smooth, it’s a beautifully made wine at the price.
