Well priced European reds have a big following here at Vino Fino and with wines such as this, it is no wonder. The 2019 Gran Familia Rioja is packed with bright fruits, a hint of vanilla and spicy notes. A very satisfying wine.
Winery notes (2019 Vintage)
“Bright cherry red with garnet tints. Ripe fruit with added complexity of sweet herbs and spicy notes. A savoury wine with chunky, spicy fruit and good acidity and a delicate touch of fine vanilla from the oak aging. The finish is long and smooth.”
Jamie Goode, Sunday Express UK
“This could well be Spain’s best value wine. It shows fresh, vivid, dark cherry and raspberry fruit with a subtly meaty, spicy edge. Less oaky than many riojas, and better for it.”

90/100 Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, June 2020 (2018 Vintage)
“Youthfully appealing and elegantly complex, the wine shows ripe cherry, thyme, clove and toasted nut characters on the nose. It’s succulent and supple on the palate, offering ripe berry flavours as well as fragrant spicy notes, finishing lingering and silky. At its best: now to 2022.”
90/100 Bob Campbell MW, The Real Review, April 2019 (2017 Vintage)
“Appealing Rioja with bright floral and red fruit flavours laced with subtle spice. An elegant wine with both purity and energy. A bargain at this price.”
