The popularity of this wine seems to never wane and this recently released 2019 continues the same consistent good quality and value that made it so popular in the first place. El Burro (The Donkey) is a big and ripe wine filled with rich fruit flavours and a nice warm spicy character. A little time in American oak adds a vanilla smoothness and a toasty, spicy touch to the vibrant, dark berry and chocolate flavours. Made by the flying Scotsman of winemakers, Norell Robertson MW from old, dry grown bush vine Garnacha (Grenache) grown in the Navarra region of North East Spain.
5 Stars & 93/100 Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, April 2021 (2019 Vintage)
“Richly fruited and gorgeously appealing, the wine shows Black Doris plum, blueberry, roasted nut and warm spice aromas on the nose, leading to a flavoursome palate offering succulent fruit flavours and fleshy texture. Upfront and delectably expressed. At its best: now to 2024.”
